Gurgaon-based H R Consulting firm Laurent & Benon, which also operates serviced apartments, is  readying for a bigger play in the hospitality sector with plans to operate 40 hotels by March 2013.

The company that made its foray in the hospitality sector by launching serviced apartments two years back is focussing on both business and leisure segments for the expansion.

 

“By March 2013, we are targetting to operate 40 hotels across India with a total inventory of around 3,000 rooms,” Laurent & Benon CEO Aman Kumar Syal told reporters.

He said of the total, 25 per cent will be either owned or leased by the company and remaining will be through management contract.

For the equity contribution, the company plans to invest Rs 60 crore by March next year. “The expansion would be funded by internal accrual,” he added.

At present the company operates two business hotels – Corporate Inn (4-Star) and Corporate Residence (3-Star) in Gurgaon.

The Corporate Residence hotel with 28 rooms is priced below Rs 3,000 per room per night while the 102 rooms Corporate Inn costs Rs 6,000 for a night.

In the leisure segment, the company has recently signed up two properties in Rajasthan for management contract and is also in the process of starting two heritage properties in Himachal Pradesh, he said.

The company’s serviced apartments are located in Gurgaon, Delhi, Noida, Pune and Hyderabad with a total inventory of 1,800 rooms.

For the ongoing financial year, the firm is expected to register turnover of Rs 110 crore, with 40 per cent coming from its hospitality venture.
